. March 16, 2009 There were some huge changes coming out of the 2009 Keystone BMX Association Spring Meeting. The biggest change of all, involves the number of races needed to qualify for the 2009 State Championship. All riders are now required to race in six Qualifier Races in order to qualify for the Championship. As always, each day of a qualifier counts toward that number. So, if a rider races on Saturday and Sunday, it counts as two of the needed six qualifiers. The fees for the Championship series have also changed this year. All qualifier entry fees will be just $15.00. The trophy plaques that we have had in the past, can be purchased outright and that cost will cover the plaque itself as well as the place plates for any races that the rider would compete in for the season. A few more changes will be announced soon, so check back often! If you have any questions about the changes, please contact your local track or one of the Keystone BMX Board Members. Westmoreland BMX lost local rider and friend Michael "Bubba" McGuire Jr. last night in a truck accident in Lower Burrell. Bubba was a great friend to everybody in the BMX community and will be missed greatly. Our condolences and heartfelt sympathies go out to his family and friends. Westmoreland BMX will have a memorial race for Bubba this year. Alex Lewis, another local rider and friend, and four other teens were also injured in the accident. Alex is in critical but stable condition and we wish him the best of luck and a speedy recovery, the other four are in better condition. The viewing will be at Knee Maurice Funeral Home, 7663 Saltsburg rd, Plum, PA 15239, on Saturday May 16th from 2-4 and 6-9, and the same times on Sunday May 17th. The funeral is on Monday |
